Max Planck Research Library for the History and Development of Knowledge

The Max Planck Research Library for the History and Development of Knowledge presents the open access publication of research undertaken within the Max Planck Society and its cooperation partners. It currently comprises three subseries: Studies, Proceedings, and Textbooks. All of the publications present original scientific work submitted under the scholarly responsibility of members of the Scientific Board and their academic peers.

The publications are directed at scholars and students in a wide range of disciplines. They are available for download in open-access digital formats (PDF files and ebooks) and as print-on-demand books. All books are published using the Creative Commons licensing model to safeguard the interests of authors in defining their own rights of use.

To ensure maximum visibility of the publications, we assign a separate ISBN to all publications in any publication form (PDF, epub, printed book). Optimal searchability is given in databases, (scientific) search engines, and national and international library catalogues (including KVK, Google Scholar, DOAB, Worldcat). The printed books are listed in the national and international book trade directories (VLB, KNOE, Buchhandel.de, Amazon, etc.) and can be ordered either in the book trade or online on the landing pages of the books.
